Food: what can dogs eat?

christian terramaniApril 17, 2021

How many times, during a meal, have you encountered the sweet and eager eyes of your dog that specifically ask you to taste your food?

Sometimes you give in, other times less. But very often you will have wondered if that specific food you are eating can be harmful to your bulldog.

Dogs in general, but bulldogs in particular, have delicate stomachs and can suffer from allergies, so they cannot ingest all the foods that we humans usually consume. In fact, some are even toxic!

Well, in this article we would like to tell you which foods are allowed and which are expressly prohibited.

-GRAPES AND RAISINS: NO!

Grapes are toxic to the Frenchie and can cause kidney failure (in some cases, if ingested in abundance, even death)

egg

-EGGS: YES

Eggs contain minerals, proteins and vitamins. However, administration is recommended only for cooked eggs (raw eggs can carry salmonella)

-BLUEBERRIES: YES

Blueberries can fight numerous diseases and are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and fiber

-ONION: NO!

This food is also toxic to dogs, as it damages the dog's blood cells. Absolutely forbidden!

apples

-APPLES: YES

Apples contain vitamin C, fiber, minerals and antioxidants. They also aid digestion, so why not? Please note though: no seeds!

-SALMON: YES

Salmon is rich in Omega3 fatty acids, which have a good effect on the dog's coat. They also reduce various inflammations!

-CHEESE: LITTLE

Every now and then it is allowed to give a piece of cheese to your dog, but the dose must be limited as it contains fat and lactose. You may therefore have stomach problems.

bulldog with popcorn

-POPCORN: no

Popcorn can be given to your dog, as long as it is in small doses and without salt or other ingredients. Be careful though: corn is not recommended for dogs who suffer from allergies, so don't risk it 😉

-CHOCOLATE: NO

Sad to think that one of the best foods in the world is not reserved for our dogs. This contains theobromine and caffeine, and dogs can't metabolize them.

These are just some of the foods recommended and not for our 4-legged friends. If you like, leave a comment enriching this list with other foods that are harmful or have beneficial effects that you know :)

See you soon!
